We are well in to level 2 and for most of us, thankfully, life has returned to be much closer to normal. This will also include appointments with your dermatologist. New Zealand dermatologists continue to strictly follow the government advice but at level 2 clinic appointments are easier provided tracing and social distancing rules are followed.
You can help your dermatologist by considering these three questions prior to your appointment:
1. In the last 14 days have you been overseas?
2. In the last 14 days have you been in contact with a person who has confirmed/probable Covid illness?
3. Are you unwell or are any of the people in your household bubble unwell with fever or new respiratory symptoms?
The first question is a bit strange as most of us have not travelled but this would apply for example to some air crew.
Covid has given us some unusual rashes, the strangest being “Covid toes”. This is a red rash on the toes that looks a little like chilblains. Take a look at the DermNet page Covid-19 and dermatology patients for more information about Covid rashes.
If you have put off seeing your dermatologist for your skin problem now is the time to make contact again.
Stay well.
